## Official Q&A

### Why does high-dose Japanese B-complex barely seem to work?

The issue is usually not product quality but that fatigue has more than one cause. B vitamins are metabolic helpers: they carry no calories and cannot replace sleep. If the fatigue comes from short sleep, inadequate calories or protein, dehydration or stress, raising the B dose rarely fixes it. Separately, many Japanese pharmaceutical-grade formulas omit B2 so that urine does not turn yellow.

### Does yellow urine mean the B vitamins are being wasted?

The colour comes from riboflavin (B2) itself and means the formula genuinely contains B2. Water-soluble vitamins beyond immediate need are excreted, which is normal regulation, not waste. Conversely, urine that never changes colour may indicate the formula has no B2.

### Can I stack several B-complex products at once?

Not advisable. When high-dose B products are stacked, B6 is the one most likely to exceed safe intake. Long-term high-dose B6 can itself cause sensory neuropathy, felt as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet — the very symptom many people take B vitamins to address, which makes the picture harder to read. Pick one product that matches the need.

### Are numb hands and feet a sign of not enough B vitamins?

B12 deficiency can cause numbness, and higher-risk groups include vegetarians, people with poor gut absorption, and long-term antacid users. But long-term high-dose B6 causes the same symptom. Persistent or worsening numbness warrants medical assessment rather than self-treatment with supplements.

### How should turmeric be taken for absorption?

Curcumin absorbs poorly on its own; it is commonly paired with black pepper extract. This is a clear example of synergy — ingredients supporting each other rather than each being increased in isolation.

### What should older adults take for declining stamina?

Common findings are reduced food intake, insufficient protein, low vitamin D and poorer B12 absorption. Vitamin D relates to bone and muscle; B12 depends on absorption. Marked decline should also be assessed for sarcopenia, alongside regular check-ups — supplements alone are not the answer.

### If a supplement makes me feel something, does that mean it works?

Not necessarily. Caffeine produces an immediate sensation without filling any nutritional gap. Conversely, antioxidant, bone and metabolic support are not meant to produce an immediate sensation. Judge by what is causing the symptom, not by whether you feel something.

### What are the principles for choosing a B-complex or multi-ingredient supplement?

Three: identify the symptom before choosing ingredients rather than shopping by dose; more is not better, particularly for B6; feeling an effect is not the same as having an effect. Anyone with a chronic condition, on medication, or pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a pharmacist or doctor before starting any supplement.

### B-Complex Synergy Lab

Why does Japanese high-dose B-complex barely seem to work? 9 customers, 9 kinds of fatigue — find the synergy formula.

#### Why does Japanese B-complex barely seem to work?

Shoppers at Japanese drugstores see pharmaceutical-grade, high-dose, active-form B1, B6 and B12, and expect energy, loose shoulders and fresh eyes. After a while... maybe slightly less tired. The aches, the sleep, the tingling haven’t changed.

The problem isn’t quality — it’s that fatigue has different causes. And many Japanese formulas drop B2 so urine won’t turn yellow.

#### B-complex is a helper, not fuel

B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6 run carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism; B6 supports nerve signalling; folate and B12 support red blood cells and nerves.

B-complex is like the crew on a construction site: without bricks — calories, protein, sleep, minerals — no amount of crew builds the house.

#### Three core principles

① Identify the symptom before picking ingredients

② Stacking isn’t better — excess B6 itself causes numbness

③ Feeling it isn’t fixing it — caffeine feels great and fills no gap

#### 9 fatigues, 9 fixes

Drained, stiff shoulders, tingling, late nights, stress, tired eyes, post-workout, seniors, drinking — each has its own synergy nutrients.

Raising the B-complex dose alone rarely completes the picture.

#### Your turn to play pharmacist

Nine customers are about to walk in. Find what each one really needs — Pharmacist Hsiao-Chen will drop hints along the way!

##### Scenario reference

| Scenario | Synergy nutrients | Lifestyle |
|---|---|---|
| Overworked & drained | B-Complex + Taurine + CoQ10 | Sleep routine |
| Stiff neck & shoulders | B-Complex + Magnesium | Stretch |
| Numb, tingling hands & feet | B12 + Fish Oil | See a doctor |
| Late nights, poor sleep | B-Complex + Magnesium + Sesamin | Sleep routine |
| Stressed & wound up | B-Complex + Magnesium + GABA | Relax |
| Tired eyes, long screen hours | B-Complex + Lutein | 20-20-20 |
| Slow recovery after workouts | B-Complex + Protein + Magnesium | Hydrate |
| Seniors losing steam | B12 + Vitamin D + Protein | See a doctor |
| Frequent business drinking | B-Complex + Turmeric + Liver Extract | Drink less |

- **Overworked & drained** — B-complex is a metabolic helper — it has no calories and cannot replace sleep. Check calories, protein, hydration and stress first; taurine and CoQ10 support different directions.
- **Stiff neck & shoulders** — Magnesium takes part in over 300 enzymes and supports normal muscle and nerve function. B supports metabolism, magnesium supports relaxation; cal-mag formulas exist too. Add heat and posture work.
- **Numb, tingling hands & feet** — B12 deficiency does cause numbness — but long-term high-dose B6 itself can cause sensory neuropathy! B12 and B1 feed the nerves; fish oil and krill oil are both DHA sources. High risk: vegetarians, poor absorption, long-term antacids. Stacking B products makes B6 overload harder to spot.
- **Late nights, poor sleep** — B-complex is not a sleep aid, and it cannot metabolize away your sleep debt. B in the daytime; magnesium, sesamin or GABA at night case by case — but a fixed bedtime and less caffeine and alcohol come first.
- **Stressed & wound up** — Stress hits sleep, appetite, the gut and muscle tension all at once. B as base support; magnesium if the diet falls short; GABA case by case. Dealing with the stressor is the core.
- **Tired eyes, long screen hours** — Lutein sits in the macula, antioxidising and absorbing blue light; B-complex handles metabolism and nerves — different directions. AREDS2 targets specific macular degeneration — it will not refresh tired eyes on the spot.
- **Slow recovery after workouts** — B-complex runs metabolism; protein and amino acids are the repair material. Check total calories, protein and fluids first; amino acids are another form of protein supplementation.
- **Seniors losing steam** — Seniors eat less, get less protein and vitamin D, and absorb B12 poorly. Vitamin D for bones and muscle, B12 depends on absorption — and screen for sarcopenia. CoQ10 and fish oil can be considered case by case.
- **Frequent business drinking** — Metabolizing alcohol burns through B vitamins and adds to the liver’s workload. If fatigue tracks your social calendar, turmeric and liver extract can support liver care — while cutting back and hydrating.

### VIVA100 Healthy-100 Lab

Why has Japan long aimed at a healthy 100 years? From washoku traditions to a complete B-complex — 9 daily scenarios.

#### Why has Japan long aimed at a healthy 100?

Japan is among the longest-lived countries in the world. But the Japanese conversation was never about living long — it’s about healthspan: the years you can walk, manage and enjoy life.

So the goal shifted early, from “longevity” to “healthy to 100”. Not through miracle pills, but small daily things: eating to 80% full, walking every day, hot baths, staying connected.

#### Washoku wisdom: why these four foods?

🍶　Kurozu — trading time for nutrition. Rice slowly fermented and aged in pots, uniquely rich in D-amino acids; the emblem of Japan’s vinegar culture, at home in cooking and daily care alike.

🧄　Garlic — the labourer’s vitality food. Supporting stamina and vigour since antiquity; the allicin behind its smell is what carries you through the day.

🌰　Cinnamon — the warming spice. 7 benefits of cinnamon! Blood sugar down 29%, triglycerides down, cholesterol down 27%, and it may ease diabetic complications.

🫚　Turmeric — Okinawa’s tradition. The golden root treasured since the Ryukyu era; curcumin absorbs efficiently with black pepper, working against chronic inflammation.

#### This time, all six Bs — including B2

Last lesson: Japanese pharmaceutical B-complex often drops B2 so urine won’t turn yellow. VIVA100 goes the other way — B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12, all six.

Plus antioxidant vitamin E, zinc and selenium, and the amino acids taurine and arginine. Yellow urine? That means the B2 is really in there.

#### 9 daily scenarios, 9 pairings

Drained, heavy takeout, cold hands, senior care, recovery, unbalanced diet, banquets, fading appetite, healthy 100 —

each daily scenario has its own pairing of ingredients and habits. The answers are all in one capsule — the point is knowing why.

#### Your turn to play pharmacist

Nine customers are about to walk in. This time it’s not about which bottle — it’s about why each ingredient is there.

Pharmacist Hsiao-Chen will drop hints along the way!

##### Scenario reference

| Scenario | Synergy nutrients | Lifestyle |
|---|---|---|
| Drained all day | Complete B + Taurine | Regular rhythm |
| Heavy takeout meals | Turmeric + Black Pepper | Hara hachi bu |
| Cold hands & feet | Garlic + Cinnamon | Hot bath |
| Antioxidant care for seniors | Vitamin E + Zinc + Selenium | Health checkups |
| Slow post-exercise recovery | Arginine + Taurine | 10,000 steps |
| Unbalanced diet | Kurozu + Complete B | Fermented foods |
| Banquets & drinking | Complete B + Turmeric + Black Pepper | Regular rhythm |
| Elderly appetite fading | Zinc + Complete B | Health checkups |
| Goal: a healthy 100 | Garlic + Kurozu + Vitamin E | Stay connected |

- **Drained all day** — Urine that never turns yellow usually means the formula dropped B2. VIVA100 carries all six Bs — including B2. Yellow urine is B2’s colour, not waste. Energy still starts with sleep and calories; taurine supports the stamina side.
- **Heavy takeout meals** — Curcumin absorbs poorly on its own — black pepper extract is its classic absorption partner. That’s what synergy means: ingredients helping each other. Eating to 80% full beats doubling any dose.
- **Cold hands & feet** — Garlic and cinnamon are the warming staples of the Japanese family table. Traditional foods work by daily consistency. Warm baths matter as much; check with a pharmacist first if you have heart conditions or take blood thinners.
- **Antioxidant care for seniors** — Vitamin E, zinc and selenium are the classic antioxidant trio — selenium and E work together. Antioxidant care is a long-term concept, not an instant feeling. For seniors, regular checkups matter more than anything.
- **Slow post-exercise recovery** — Arginine and taurine are a familiar amino-acid pair among active people. What longevity research praises most isn’t intense exercise — it’s walking every day. Slow recovery also means checking protein and sleep.
- **Unbalanced diet** — Kurozu is Japan’s pot-aged fermented staple; B vitamins help metabolize the three macronutrients. Fermented foods are everyday washoku — kurozu, miso, natto. Supplements assist; they don’t replace vegetables.
- **Banquets & drinking** — Alcohol and big meals both raise the metabolic workload; B vitamins get used up faster. Remember: turmeric with black pepper. What really works is moderation, a light next day, and normal rhythm.
- **Elderly appetite fading** — Zinc is one of the nutrients that maintains taste; low zinc can make everything bland, shrinking appetite further. Changes in taste and appetite deserve a medical review — they can involve medications, the mouth or absorption. Don’t rely on supplements alone.
- **Goal: a healthy 100** — What longevity research cites most isn’t supplements — it’s daily life: eat to 80%, move every day, keep your ikigai and your friends. VIVA100 is a daily-care combination. The real formula for 100 is half on the table, half in how you live.
